I am pleased to enter my biennium as Provincial/State President of New Brunswick for 2023-2025. This year our theme is
Shine in DKG…
Light the path to Education,
Glow with friendship and,
Sparkle with leadership.
DKG NB is looking forward to continuing to address building and sustaining membership during the year, The Executive held a summer meeting and set our strategic plan in action. In order to sustain our Society, we will continue to support our members through opportunities for grants for education, conferences, communication and friendship. We will promote participation and diversity for all members. We will promote membership by networking with early career educators and student teachers.
On June 3, 2023, we held our first DKG NB Convention since the pandemic. We welcomed guests, former members of Gamma Chapter, and were pleased to have two members transfer into Beta Chapter. The highlight of our day was a talk and tour by John Leroux, architect, art historian and presently Manage of Collections and Exhibitions at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton, NB. He shared his knowledge and architectural experience with a focus on the beautiful, stained-glass windows at Memorial Hall, University of New Brunswick. We also welcomed former alumni guests who joined us for the enlightening presentation.
This month we are invited to DKG Maine State for a cross-border weekend with our US neighbours. It will be a time for learning, networking with new friends, and sharing ideas for how we can promote DKG.
This year the members are participating in various projects. We have exciting programs arranged including in-person and virtual educational speakers, field trips and discussions. We are also seeking new members through contacts with local universities. We plan to grant scholarships to students enrolled in the final year of their education degrees and give funds for early educators. Local service also includes donations of school supplies and books for less-fortunate children.
A new DKG year with in-person and virtual meetings awaits us. Let us all participate in ways that suit our needs. We are all members of a valued, respected team of women who are educators who promote education locally, nationally and internationally.
Respectfully submitted,
Dianne Caron, DKG NB Provincial/State President |
