About Us
Beta Rho Chapter was founded on June 2, 1973 when nineteen educators from Monroe County, Michigan were initiated into membership of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Alpha Iota State, Beta Rho Chapter. Beta Rho's currrent membership stands at 44 active and 3 reserve members. Members who are actively teaching or supervising are employed at all levels from K through college. Our monthly meetings are held on the fourth Thursday at various locations around Monroe County.
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is a professional honor society of women educators. The Society promotes professional and personal growth of its members and excellence in education. Prospective members who evidence leadership qualities are invited to join and must meet the membership qualifications set by The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
Service Projects
Beta Rho donates items to the local battered women's shelter. This year we will donate underwear to God's Works a local Monroe charity. During the summer we contribute a meal for Holiday Camp, the local camp that services handicapped children.
Beta Rho endows a $300 scholarship for a student at Monroe County Community College.
A member-to-member mentoring program with retired teachers assisting curently employed teachers was begun in 2007.
