Congratulations to Marian Robinson

2011 Lambda State Achievement Award Recipient

by Teresa Maguire, Achievement Award Chair (2009-2011)

Lambda State is proud to honor Marian Robinson as the 2011 Achievement Award Recipient.

Lambda State is pleased to recognize Marian Robinson of Xi chapter as the Achievement Award recipient for 2011.  Ms. Robinson has been a loyal member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society for 30 years.  Marian attended the Lambda State Convention the first year she was a member and has attended every year since.  She encourages her chapter members to do the same.  She has also attended many regional conferences and International conventions. Within seven years of her initiation, Marian was on the state finance committee and was the chair for four years. She also served one biennium as state recording secretary and another as state treasurer.  Throughout the years, she served on numerous committees and made many presentations at conferences and seminars.  Marian will be remembered for years to come for her talent with creations of wood which she has so generously shared with her sisters at the Creative Arts Retreats and in the giving of gifts for Xi chapter and Lambda State.  She gives from her heart with everything she creates.
A leader and respected member of her chapter, Marian became Chapter President and treasurer within her first decade of membership.  Xi Chapter looks to her for guidance and direction.  She is their “go to” person for consultations about rules, finances and all Society business.  Marian mentors new leaders and encourages her chapter to explore innovative ways to keep the chapter current. She also leads by example with her involvement and has never lost her momentum for serving at the Chapter and State levels.  Marian was awarded the first Xi Chapter Achievement Award in 2009.
Professionally, Marian was a mathematics educator and continues to be involved in many professional organizations since her retirement.  She serves on several councils and boards as either the communications chair or treasurer and has had opportunities to participate in research projects for the military as well as several universities and corporations.  Marian was selected to help develop mathematical assessments for ISBE, ISAT and other states in the Midwest.

It is a privilege to award the 2011 Lambda State Achievement Award to such an outstanding Key Woman Educator.
