Delta Kappa Gamma was founded
by Miss Anna Webb Blanton of Austin, Texas in 1929. After many years
of educational leadership in her state, including the position of state
superintendent
of
schools, Miss Blanton enlisted the cooperation of women
of simiar ideals to work together in this fraternity for the advancement
of
women
in education. Since that date, the movement
has spread throughout the country. The society celebrated 75 years
of sisterhood in 2004. Wisconsin became the eighteenth state
to participate when the society was organized in Madison on May 14, 1936.
