Vision to Action: Advancing the Society
U.S. Forum Goals 2008-2010


Goal I: To expand communication from the U.S. Forum to all levels of the Society through various means of communication

  • by providing a network through regional representatives, Forum Connection, U.S. Forum Web site, and U.S. Forum brochures
  • by insuring U.S. Forum communication through a representative from each state;
  • by recommending that states include a U.S. Forum stipend for U.S. Forum Seminar participation by a state member
Goal II: To utilize the "forum" concept at U.S. Forum sessions to gather input from members and identify key issues of concern
  • by encouraging open forum discussion among members
  • by providing members with information regarding relevant legislation in the U.S. Congress
Goal III: To update the U.S. Forum handbook and related materials each biennium
  • by reviewing preceding U.S. Forum Steering Committee suggestions and recommendations
Goal IV: To plan and conduct workshops at Regional Conferences, National Legislative Seminar (NLS), and International Conventions to inform members of the importance of lifetime involvement in the democratic process

Goal V:
To clarify the relationship between the U.S. Forum and the International Professional Affairs Committee
  • by initiating dialogue between the two committees concerning legislation for advocacy
Goal VI: To establish networking opportunities with organizations of similar purpose, for example: Association of University Women (AAUW), League of Women Voters (LWV), National Education Association (NEA), American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), U.S. Department of Education, National Research Center for Women and Families, National Women's History Museum, and the United Nations
