Epsilon Kappa Chapter
Projects

Akins High School Project
Akins High School provides Pregnancy and Parenting
Groups. This year Epsilon Kappa will be making fleece blankets to give
to the teen moms in this program. We also plan on making a monetary
donation to Akins High School, which they will be able to use for either
their Pregnancy or Girl Empowerment Program. The Girl Empowerment
Program offers 6-week groups throughout both semesters for girls only.
Each week the group topic covers issues such as body image, healthy
relationships, communication, etc. The topics are personalized to each
group depending on what the girls want more information on but some topics
are consistent from group to group.
Schools for Africa -
International Project
Delegates to the 2010 DKG International Convention in
Spokane, Washington agreed to "transform lives through education" on the
African continent when they unanimously voted to undertake the
Schools for Africa project as the
first official international project of the Society. Through DKG's support
of this project nearly 5 million African children will gain access to
quality basic education. The project has a special focus on girls,
orphans, and vulnerable children. DKG's partnership with UNICEF will train
over 100,000 teachers and build or rehabilitate almost 1,000 schools.
