PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

We will be closing the first year of this biennium as we have our April meeting, join members from across the state at Xi State Convention in Sewanee in June, and join members from across the Southeast at the Regional Conference in New Orleans in June. As I look forward to our Alpha Pi meeting, the State Convention, and the Southeast Conference, I am also looking forward to our second year of the biennium. I will be seeking ideas and information in Sewanee and in New Orleans to help me lead our chapter next year. My greatest need is your participation and support. I’ll be in touch with you this summer as we plan our activities Thanks to each of you for your valuable participation this year.

MORE COMMITTEE CORNER

The Grant-in-Aid Committee, Joyce Hiebert, chair, Dorothy Pedigo, Joan Pockrus, and Carol Preiser have selected Miss Christina Penfold from Tullahoma High School and Miss Andrea Ryann McElroy from Coffee County Central High School to receive grants-in-aid from the Alpha Pi Chapter. The two students and mothers will be guests at the April 28 meeting at which a check for $500 will be presented to each young lady.

2007 SE REGIONAL CONFERENCE SCHEDULE AND REGISTRATION forms for the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, the Conference, Conference tours, and the “SELL YOUR SUCCESS!” seminar are available fromMartha Scarbrough. Pre-Conference Tours are held June 25, 26, 27. First-Time Attendees Orientation is June 27 with General Sessions and Workshops on June 28, 29, and 30. Submit registration forms by May 24 .

COMMITTEE CORNER

The Arts and Crafts/Silent Auction Basket Committee, Leslie Wurst, chair, is assembling art/craft items for display at the State Convention in June and is putting together a garden-theme basket for the silent auction there. Please bring items for the garden-theme basket to the April 28 meeting and give to Martha Scarbrough. Let Martha Scarbrough know if you have a craft item to include in the art/craft display.

The Literacy/Special Project

Committee, Virginia Davis, chair, has two chairs prepared for the Coffee County Literacy Auction to be held April 27. A special thank you to Leslie Wurst and Patty Roberts for painting and decorating the chairs.

Thanks to each of you who have given time and energy to the work of our committees. Be thinking about your committee membership for next year. Let Martha Scarbrough know what you would like.

XI STATE NOTES

XI STATE CONVENTION will be held June 7-9, 2007, at the University of the South at Sewanee, TN. A registration form appears as page 10 in the February 2007 issue of Xi State News. A lower registration fee applies when the registration is postmarked on or before May 1 st. On that registration form, you are asked to indicate the workshop sessions you plan to attend.
