Dr. Lynda B. Schmid Is State Achievement Award Recipient
|
Dr. Lynda B. Schmid, Chi Chapter, became the twenty-first recipient of the esteemed State Achievement Award during Saturday evening convention festivities, June 13, at the Nittany Lion Inn, State College, PA. The award committee’s clever presentation was sung to an adaptation of “She’s Got the Whole World in Her Hands” and the data from Lyn’s vita was used in the verses.
An overview of Dr. Lyn’s vita shows that she was initiated in 1980 and has actively participated in Delta Kappa Gamma programs at the chapter, state, and international levels.
In her chapter, she has served as President following her service as First Vice President and Second Vice President. She has been chairman for Membership, Program, Nominations, Projects, and Initiations.
On the state level she served as president from 2005-2007. Other offices Dr. Lyn has held are First Vice President and Second Vice President. She has been chairman for Membership, Program, Leadership Development and Nominations committees. She has served as a member of the Professional Affairs and World Fellowship committees.
Dr. Schmid is presently serving on the International Leadership Development committee. She has developed a program to train chapter presidents to work to stimulate their own growth as well as to have positive growth for their chapters. At the international level she has also served on and chaired the World Fellowship committee.
A very proud moment for Dr. Schmid was when she was awarded the Annie Webb Blanton International Scholarship while she was working on her doctoral studies in the field of education.
Alpha Alpha State congratulates Dr. Lyn Schmid as the 2009 recipient of the State Achievement Award. |

The following criteria have been established to create a consistent recognition for Alpha Alpha State members. Consider the following criteria in order to complete the nomination form to nominate one of your chapter members for the 2010 “Woman of Distinction” Award:
- Recognition must be for an honor or distinction received or service performed beyond The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
- Recognition will be given on an annual basis during the State Convention. This year’s candidates shall have received their honors between May 15, 2009, and April 15, 2010.
- The nominee must be a contributing/participating member in good standing with her chapter (including Active, Reserve, Honorary members).
- A complete nomination form will be filed with the chairman of The Professional Affairs Committee by April 20, 2010, in order to be recognized at the 2010 convention. Nominations for candidates receiving awards after the stated deadline may be resubmitted for recognition during the following year’s convention.
- All applications to Woman of Distinction, received in a timely manner will be reviewed and evaluated by the Professional Affairs Committee to determine those applicants with the highest distinction as only a limited number of applicants will be honored.
- Included in the application form must be a description of the nominee’s distinction and how this distinction has fulfilled one or more of the seven purposes of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Please support your recommendation with specific examples.
- All Album of Distinction awardees will be honored at the Friday Night Reception on June 11, 2010, at the State Convention. Award winners and their Chapter Presidents (or a designee) are expected to attend.
- A wallet-size color photo (jpeg preferable) of the nominee must be included with the nomination form. Please do not send newspaper photographs.
- Any member can file a nomination form on behalf of another member.
- All awardees will be notified of their selection by May 15, 2010, in time to register for the Convention.
Please complete the Nomination Form found in the Keystonian, online or check with your Chapter President and submit it no later than April 20, 2010. Award winners will be notified of their acceptance as a Woman of Distinction. Please join us at State Convention to acknowledge, celebrate, meet, and greet the recipients of the 2010 “Woman of Distinction” Award.
