Welcome

Please join us at the Wildhorse Resort & Casino in Pendleton, April 29 -- May 1, 2016, for our Diamond Jubilee Alpha Rho State Conference. The theme for our 75th birthday is Catch the Wave of Diversity. We have several diverse workshops to choose from and a special diamond birthday celebration.

The Wildhorse Resort & Casino is located 4 miles east of Pendleton. There is even an RV park if you choose this type of travel. The hotel offers great hours for their swimming pool and fitness center, plus free Wi-Fi. Plan to arrive early Friday so you can take part in the tours of The Pendleton Woolen Mills, offering quality woolen products established in 1863, and Tamastslikt Cultural Institute, experience the history, culture, and hospitality of the tribes who live in the area. You can also get started on collecting the charms of Pendleton by visiting community organizations and businesses. The one with the most charms wins a prize.

Keynote speakers this year will be discussing diversity. We will hear of struggles and perseverance. We will be empowered as women and educators. Friday evening our keynote is Camille Preus, President of Blue Mountain Community College. Saturday we will hear from an education major and student teacher, Wesley Mitchell, from Eastern Oregon University. Our International Guest this year is our Immediate Past International President Dr. Beverly Helm, who will empower us as women leaders.

Here’s a brief glimpse of the weekend:

Our Boutique opens at 8 a.m. as well as the purchase of tickets for our basket drawing which will take place in the late afternoon. We will have two keynotes and four workshop sessions, each with four separate workshops, to participate in. PDU’s will be available for the workshops. Lunch will be a special Diamond celebration. Dinner and awards time will have the cash bar open again. We end the evening with the Underground Tour for those who have signed up, and the hospitality suite will be open until 10pm.

Sunday, May 1
Happy Lei Day! Okay, when you’re not on the island, I guess it’s called May Day. Let’s make it a wonderful and safe one. We start with morning wellness activities followed by our White Rose Ceremony honoring those women who have passed this year. We will then have breakfast and training for Chapter Presidents. We end at noon and start our travels back home, safely.
Much is happening in Pendleton. You don’t want to miss this. As women educators, we have a lot on our plates. We get run down. We get tired. We need each other. We need to hear from other women, share our stories, and help each other. That’s what builds relationships. That’s what keeps us going. That’s what DKG can do for you. See you in Pendleton!
