June 2023

Kudos to Xi Chapter for hosting a wonderful Founder’s Day meeting in May, inviting their Nevada Apple recipients to share their project proposals with their members. I applaud Xi’s new program idea of delivering treats to the teachers at a selected school in Reno for Teacher Appreciation Week and hosting a luncheon for the teachers there, as well. I learned about their wonderful Socks for Veterans program, and their visit to the Food Bank as a chapter to help bag food for seniors. What a way to give back to the community, Xi Chapter! Thank you for your service!

Kudos to Delta Chapter for inviting their student teacher scholarship recipient and their three Nevada Apple recipients and chapter member’s guests to their Founder’s Day Brunch in May, two of whom have now joined their chapter. We have two new DKG members to add to our roster! Yahoo! Way to go, Delta!

Congratulations to Marilynn Howard, Xi Chapter, for receiving the well-deserved Delta Rose Outstanding Achievement Award at convention for her 27 years of meritorious service to her chapter, serving as 1st & 2nd VP and chapter president for two terms. Her chapter credits her with keeping them going through the Covid years. What a pleasure it was to be able to present her plaque and rose to her in person at Xi’s Founder’s Day meeting!

Congratulations to Lori Johnson (Theta), Lois Bianchi (Lambda), and Terrie Camenisch (Theta) for receiving participation certificates at convention for submitting their photos in the Snap Judgement photo contest.  Between the three, there were 10 photos submitted in all. Lori’s cemetery photo placed 1st; Terrie’s sunset photo placed 2nd.  Ardynne Sprinkle (Theta) had the 1st and 2nd place photos matted and framed to present to them. Thank you ladies, and thank you, Ardynne!

September 2022

Congratulations to Cindy Frazer, State Webmaster, for receiving the Delta Rose Outstanding Achievement Award! Cindy has worked diligently to make our website informative, easily accessible, user-friendly, interesting, and always up-to-date with all deadlines and event announcements. Our website is an advertisement, so to speak, for our state – as International, along with other states and chapters, have access to our site and can see what wonderful things we are doing! We are proud of our website, and we owe that to Cindy’s hard work to make it the best it can be! Thank you, Cindy! (see attached award certificate)

Congratulations to Dr. Judith Merz, Epsilon Chapter, whose article, Deeper into the Divide: A Review of Digital Divisions by Matthew Rafalow, was selected for publication in the DKG Bulletin: International Journal for Professional Educators, volume 88-5. What an outstanding accomplishment, Judy! We are so proud of you! Be sure to read Judy’s article in the Bulletin! It can be accessed through the DKG website under Publications; archived as Bulletin-Journal-88-5; posted on 6/22/22. (see attached letter of recognition)
