- Applicants must be members in good standing* and have held membership for three or more years in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society
- Applicants will be considered on the basis of their active local and state participation* in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
Applicants must be accepted in a graduate degree program in an approved institution of higher learning.
- Applicants must meet reasonable standards of general health, personality, scholarship, professional and community service, and also must evidence potentialities for future service to Delta Kappa Gamma Society.
- Applicants' personal comments and references should show promise of distinction in their respective fields of study.

Professional Growth Stipend
Stipends will be granted to members of Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha Zeta State working individually or as a team in the amount up to $1000.00 per selected application for the following:
- Professional growth
- Personal development
- Research
- Travel related to field
- Educational or community service projects
- Conference attendance related to field

The applicant shall be a U.S. citizen, a current resident of New Jersey and enrolled in a four year college or university in New Jersey.
The applicant shall be a female undergraduate or graduate student who has begun her professional program leading to an initial teaching certification.
The applicant shall submit the following to the Scholarship Chairperson of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International - Alpha Zeta State:
- Application form
- Official transcript from all colleges/ universities including the cumulative grade point average.
- Three letters of recommendation
* Two letters from professionals in the field of education
* One letter from a personal reference
- A 500 word essay indicating your desire to become a teacher and the attributes which make you worthy as a recipient of this scholarship.
- A resume
