Hi Alpha Sisters, Cindy, our convention chairperson, has the following message for you (and please share it with our non-email sisters!): Zeta chapter is hosting a book "sharing" and has asked each chapter to donate 50 very gently used books. They are looking for children's books, popular fiction (paperbacks only, please), recent professional books (paperbacks, please), and miscellaneous books on such topics as cooking, gardening, technology, travel, etc. They will be offered at convention on Saturday from 10:30am to 12 noon and again from 2:30 to 4:00pm. Members selecting books will be invited to donate to the Alpha Zeta State Stipend Fund, which offers grants to members for projects in their schools. I will be collecting your donated books at the March meeting. Please bring a few of your favorites for this worthwhile project. If we have more than our 50 donations, those attending the March meeting will be invited to browse and make a selection or two so that we do not exceed our quota. After the convention sale, all remaining books will be donated to a non-profit organization for their book sale. Don't forget your gift card for our chapter "basket" for the Friday night social. We are looking for gift cards in the amount of $10.00 or more from merchants available statewide. Think about teaming up with other sisters to purchase a more valuable card from places like Macys or Best Buy or Target. If you don't have time to shop, I will happily accept cash or check and get the gift cards on your behalf. I am also looking for an additional new item with a value of $25.00. Barbara Ann Ellert has graciously offered one item but we have been asked to bring two. Please call or email me if you have something as, again, we are asked to bring only two items. I will be asking for helpers for the registration desk on Friday afternoon-evening and on Saturday morning. If you are coming to convention, think about volunteering for an hour or more. Hotel registration deadline is midnight on Wednesday, February 22nd. Be sure to identify yourself as a DKG member - use the DKG code!! If you miss the deadline, DO NOT call the hotel. First, call Jan Paxton as she may have already reserved additional rooms for our group to meet our guarantee. If you are not planning to attend convention, you are still invited to support our chapter and Alpha Zeta State by participating in the basket and book donations. Better still, reconsider and COME TO CONVENTION!! On Sunday morning, we will be honoring the memories of our dear sisters, Alberta Mount and Ruth Kane Fern. I hope you will be there.
