Mission Statement
The Service Project for the 2010-2012 biennium is Jersey Battered Women's Service - www.jbws.org.
Jersey Battered Women's Service Inc. in Morris County, NJ is a full-service domestic violence and domestic abuse prevention agency with volunteer opportunities. The services include a 24-hour hotline; counseling; safe house; transitional living; children's services; life skills education; vocational counseling; batterer's intervention; legal assistance; teen dating violence services; and professional training, education and youth prevention programs.
Here are some ways you can help (You can bring any of the first 4 to the December 4 meeting):
- Donate your old cell phone to any Verizon Wireless store for their Hopeline project.
- Collect discount coupons from Bed, Bath and Beyond
- Donate gift cards for Shop Rite, Kids R Us, Bed, Bath and Beyond, etc. to help lower the expenses for the transitional living apartments.
- Monetary donations to help defer the cost of items needed for the JBWS safe house, transitional living apartments and children's services.
- Order flowers and gift baskets from www.usaflorist.com/jbws and JBWS will receive 20% of your purchase amount.
- Use www.goodsearch.com as your search engine and identify JBWS as your favorite charity. Every click will generate a penny to JBWS.
- Use www.goodshop.com and identify JBWS as your charity. Shop online with your favorite merchant. When you check out, a percentage of your purchases will be donated to JBWS.
- Having a special occasion and would like to direct your guests to make a donation to your favorite charity? Try www.justgive.org.
- Visit the JBWS events site www.jbws.org/events_and_news.html to participate in upcoming events.

Judy Jaeger and Cathy will have suggestions for fun ways you can make a donation to “Schools for Africa” at the meeting. Check out their basket of suggestions at the meeting and pick one to decide on your donation. (Examples: Contribute a dime for every year you are in education. Give a dollar for each credit card you own. Donate a quarter for the number of miles to our meeting.)
