President's Message...
Greetings from Ann:

The regularity of the school schedule has been challenged by the H1N1 flu outbreak. In my building, a new poster implores us to avoid using the drinking fountains during this outbreak. I have managed to avoid H1N1 and hope you have, too. Today I am thankful to have only contracted a common cold.

October 31 is an important time of the year. It is the deadline when dues must be paid to our treasurer, Collette Folstad. Our dues support the local, state and international efforts of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Our dues make it possible for the society to promote professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Our dues allow DKG to connect 130,000 key women educators in 14 countries. Our dues must be paid by this time to activate our membership for the upcoming year and to provide solid monetary support for the function of the society.

Our November 7th meeting provides an opportunity for personal community service and involvement with our participation in a service project at the YWCA Women’s Shelter in Fargo. Through the years Beta Chapter has provided support to the shelter through donations of needed supplies, literacy programs, assistance with their fundraiser, Chocolate Fantasy, and monetary donations. This year we will have a chance to work directly with the shelter building and maintenance. I am excited to have this opportunity four our chapter to help.

Our Chapter takes a break from meetings during December and January. Our next Beta Chapter meeting includes an early, catered supper at Zandbroz Variety, at 4 p.m., Saturday, February 20. Following the supper and meeting we will attend the “Celebration of Women and their Music” at the Fargo Theater. You are encouraged to bring potential members to this meeting and event. It promises to be a fun evening.

Stay healthy, keep breathing and stay involved. See you on the seventh of November at the YWCA Women’s Shelter.
