President's Message...
Greetings from Ann:
November has come in like a lamb with beautiful fall weather and graceful changing colors.  We have that to be thankful for as we celebrate Thanksgiving Day at the end of this month.

Our last meeting of 2008 happens Thurs., Nov. 13.  We will join our sisters of Epsilon Chapter of Moorhead for dinner, speaker on Philanthropy and Youth, and a short business meeting after for our chapter.  Make certain you RSVP to Epsilon’s invitation.  Details are available in this issue of Beta Bits.

Applications for Golden Gift Stipends and Scholarships are due.   Golden Gift Stipends provide financial assistance to members to develop skills and meet specific educational and professional needs.  Awards cover costs (not to exceed $800 per selected applicant) for individual research, team projects, attendance at educational workshops and conventions, excluding Delta Kappa Gamma-sponsored events.  Information can be found at the Society website.  Applications are due for the Adeline Stevenson Nurse Scholarship and the Hazel B. Nielson Scholarship on Feb. 1, 2009.  Contact me for more information about these stipends and scholarships.

On Sat.. Feb. 21. we’ll start meeting again after our Holiday break.  We’ll gather at Zandbroz Variety for a light dinner and quick meeting. Then we’ll walk down Broadway to the Fargo Theater for the Celebration of Women and Their Music.  Make plans to join us for this fun event.

At our March 7, I encourage you to invite new members into our chapter.  Between now and then, visit with prospective members about our Society.  Let them know about its scholarships, grant opportunities, and its interaction with a delightful and diverse group of women educators.  Fill out Form 11 - Recommendation for Invitation to Membership, available at www.deltakappagamma.net under the Forms and Applications link and at our Feb. meeting.  We will introduce them at our March meeting and invite prospective members to an informational coffee/tea later in the month. In May we will initiate our new members.

Our April meeting program will be a book discussion of Greg Mortenson’s best seller “Three Cups of Tea – One Man’s Mission to Fight Terrorism and Build Nations . . . One School at a time.   It will be good Christmas reading.
