Greetings from Ann:
With the start of March I found a glimmer of spring. I hear
falcons calling as I get ready for work in the morning. If I am
lucky, I’ll see them perched on top of a tall electrical
pole. When the birds of prey start moving north, spring is not
far behind.
On Sat., March 6, 2010, we are having an exciting
meeting and program at Barnes and Noble Booksellers. The store opens at
9 a.m., so we will begin our meeting as soon as possible after
that. At 10:30, Sharon Miller, talent specialist at the NDSU
Research & Technology Park, will present “Finding Your
Passion In Today’s Job Market.” The lecture is open
to the public, so invite your friends. Miller will discuss the
importance of being happy at work, working toward happiness, and
discovering that work should be a vital part of the very passion of
your life.
Building our membership is an important goal this
year. Invite perspective members to the March meeting and
others. Recommendations for membership forms will be accepted and
available at the March meeting. They can be accessed at
http://www.deltakappagamma.net in the Forms/Applications section, then
scrolling down to the list under General Society Forms.
The Nominating Committee has been activated to fill
a slate of officers that will be put to a vote at our April
Meeting. Help develop your leadership skills and strengthening
our chapter by agreeing to serve as an officer of Beta Chapter.
On Sat., April 10 at 9 a.m. our meeting will be at
the Historic Comstock House, 506 8th Street South in Moorhead, MN,
218-291-4211. The Solomon Comstock family settled early in this
area and contributed to the development of both Concordia College and
Minnesota State University—Moorhead. Their house is a
lovely setting for our April meeting, brunch, and tour. Invite
potential members for a short “Q & A” about Delta Kappa
Gamma.
Because our May program is on May 1, we will fill
May Baskets (laundry-size baskets) with supplies needed by the YWCA
Women’s Shelter. Our meeting will be at the Charism Center
and will include a tour with July Gunkelman, initiation of new members
and installation of the new officers for Beta Chapter. Our State
President Karen Walz will visit us, and Chapters Tau (Wahpeton) and
Zeta (Mayville) Chapters will be invited to join us.
We have three great programs planned for you. I look forward to seeing all of you.
