President's Message...
Greetings from Ann:
It is that exciting time of year when we all converge as educators to do our part in shaping the future.  The back-to-school advertisements are trying to entice us to buy.  Judging by the parking lot at West Acres, it is working, and we are stimulating our economy!
While we prepare to stimulate our students’ minds, we must also take time to stimulate ourselves, both personally and professionally.  On Thursday, Sept. 3, at 7:00 p.m., we will meet at the Children’s Museum-Yunker Farm, 1201 28 Ave N, Fargo for our Fall Social.  Invite colleagues along to introduce them to our members and to encourage them to join our membership.
As a professional honor society of women educators, membership in Delta Kappa Gamma Society International has many benefits.  When you find professional development opportunities that you wish you could attend if you had the money, apply for the Cornetet Award.  It provides funds for DKG members to attend non-degree programs that relate specifically to your professional aspirations and/or current educational assignment. The award is available to all members who meet the award criteria.
If you are enrolled in an advance study, apply for an International Scholarship awarding $6,000 to members who are working on advanced degrees.   Other state scholarships are also available to you as a member.
Encourage international students you know to apply for the World Fellowship Fund.  It provides opportunities for women educators to study in colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.  The International website provides complete information for the awards and scholarships that I have mentioned.  You will find them at www.deltakappagamma.net
There are wonderful opportunities with membership in Delta Kappa Gamma.  In encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities membership provides.  Spread the word about Delta Kappa Gamma and help our chapter to grow by encouraging your friends to attend the September 3rd Fall Social.  I’ll see you all there.
