Meeting Minutes May 3, 2008
PROGRAM: “Finding Hope” by Lisa Askew of Valley Christian Counseling Center
Beta
Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Saturday, May 3, 2008, at North Town
Grill, 3250 12th Avenue North, Fargo, ND. The meeting was called
to order by Ginger Dietz, president, with twenty- one (21) members and
one (1) guest present.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the April 5, 2008, meeting were approved as published in Beta Bits.
Treasurer’s Report: Linda Fricker reported a balance of $1025.97 with total assets of $28,843.49.
Correspondence:
A thank you card from Minnesota State University Moorhead,
Moorhead, MN, thanking the chapter for the twenty-five dollar ($25)
donation given to the Tri-College New Leadership Development Institute.
Invitation from Grand Forks, ND, Delta Kappa Gamma Epsilon and Mu
Chapters to attend the Alpha Omicron State Workshop, “ Swarming
to New Heights Using Lattice Leadership”, Friday, June 6-7, 2008.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Membership and Courtesy:
President, Ginger Dietz, reported in the absence of Jolyn Krabbenhoft
that Beta Chapter will initiate two (2) new members in the fall.
Scholarship:
Chairperson, Michelle Severtson, reported the five hundred dollar
($500) Adeline Stevenson Nurse Scholarship is award only during the odd
years. It is to be awarded during the State Convention year.
Music:
Chairperson, Gerry Flaig, reported the David Kegel Memorial Music Grant
in the amount of two hundred fifty dollars ($250) was awarded to
Michaela Koenig.
World Fellowships:
Chairperson, Jennette Dittman, reported that fifty-two dollars
($52) was raised at the Book Fair. The committee recommended the
chapter add twenty-three dollars ($23) to the money raised and send
seventy-five dollars ($75) to the World Fellowship Fund. Approved
Finance:
The committee recommended the two hundred fifty dollars ($250) for the
David Kegel Memorial Music Grant come from the Chapter General Fund
because the fund has excess money. This would allow the money in the
Kegel Saving Account to continue to grow. Approved
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Alpha Omicron State Conference: June 6-7, 2008, at the Holiday Inn, Grand Forks, ND.
Birthday Fund:
Each year the chapter sends a twenty-five dollar ($25) donation
to the Hazel B. Nielson Scholarship Fund. This is a budget item.
NEW BUSINESS
Golden Grant Award:
Linda Coons reported the chapter received a Golden Grant award of
six hundred thirty dollars ($630) for the proposed program “Spark
A Reader”. Deb Boyer, Linda Coons, Jolyn Krabbenhoft,
Evonne Timian, and Sue Zurn wrote the proposal. The chapter will
be working together with the YWCA to improve literacy. A two
hundred fifty dollar ($250) membership to the Children’s Museum
for the YWCA children is a part of the program.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Ann
Braaten, first vice president, presented Ginger Dietz, president, a
gift of appreciation for her service to Beta Chapter during the past
two (2) years.
