Beta Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International
Meeting Minutes September 4, 2008
The
September 4 meeting was held at Bear Creek Winery, Fargo. Rod
Ballenger, proprietor and vintner, presented a program that told about
the development of the winery and vineyard, and instruction on tasting
and selection of wines. Ballenger’s make wines out of grapes and
other fruits like rhubarb and blueberry. The Membership and Courtesy
Committees served a variety of cheeses and crackers to complement the
wine.
President Ann Braaten welcomed members and led an informal meeting. She made the following Announcements:
An electronic ìLeaders’ Learning Suite
for professional and personal growth is available through
International. It is an on-line and CD-based course with a
10-course requirement, 5 core courses and 5 your choice courses from a
menu of 80 courses that must be completed in one year. For more
information, check the International website.
International has directed each chapter to update its Standing Rules (formerly called bylaws). Volunteers for an Ad Hoc committee will be requested at the October meeting.
The
Alpha Omicron Executive Board meeting will be held on Sat., Sept. 20 in
Mandan. All members are welcome to attend. Please let Ann Braaten
know if you are interested in driving along.
Linda Coons, Co-2nd Vice President, announced that October’s meeting
is to be held at North Town Grill at 9 a.m. on Oct. 4. Discussion
followed concerning whether an Initiation should be held in October
considering only two members will be initiated. Members decided that
initiation will be held so that the new members can take part in this
year’s programs rather than waiting another full year to take
part.
Linda Coons announced that our February meeting
will take place on Sat., Feb. 21, 2009. The Program Committee has
arranged for people to meet at 4:30 at Zandbroz Variety in downtown
Fargo for a light supper and meeting. From there we go to the Fargo
Theater to attend a Celebration of Women and Their Music coordinated by
Deb Jenkins, our speaker at our April 2008 meeting.
Ginger Dietz, Past President, asked for volunteers to assist at the YWCA’s Chocolate Fantasy and Chili, too. The YWCA requested help in final cleanup once the event ends at 7 p.m. on Sept. 11.
Respectfully submitted,
Ann Braaten, President
