Meeting Minutes April 5, 2008
Program: A Celebration of Women & their Music was presented by founder, Deb Jenkins.
The World Fellowships Committee held a Book Sale Fundraiser.
Beta
Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Saturday, April 5, 2008, at North Town
Grill, 3250 12th Avenue North, Fargo, ND. The meeting was called
to order by First Vice-President, Ann Braaten, in the absence of
president, Ginger Dietz. There were twenty-four (24) members
present and one (1) guest.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the March 1, 2008, meeting were approved as corrected and filed.
Treasurer’s Report: Jo Cavins, in the absence of treasurer, Linda Fricker, reported a balance of $1,194.96 with total assets of $29,012.48.
Correspondence:
Jo Cavins, read a card of thanks from Deb White thanking Beta
Chapter for the twenty-five dollar ($25) donation to the Tri-College
New Leadership Development Institute. Jo Cavins also read a thank you
note from Pam, a Delta Kappa Gamma World Fellowship Recipient.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Membership:
Committee Chairperson, Jolyn Krabbenhoft, reported that new
members would be initiated at the September Meeting rather than the May
Meeting. Jolyn will accept new member nominations at the April and May
Meetings.
Scholarships: Committee Chairperson, Michelle Severtson stated the committee had no report.
Music:
Committee Chairperson, Jerry Flaig, reported that they had received six
(6) applications for the David Kegel Memorial Music Grant.
Nominations:
Committee Chairperson, Verna LaBounty, presented the slate of
nominees. They were as follows: President, Ann Braaten;
First Vice-President, Linda Fricker; Co-Second Vice-Presidents, Linda
Coons and Elaine Strand; Secretary, Debbie Boyer
World Fellowship: No Report. Chairperson, Jennette Dittman, was absent due to the death of her grandson.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Alpha Omicron State Workshop:
Verna LaBounty stated the Workshop would be held June 6-7, 2008,
in Grand Forks, ND. The registration forms will be in the print issue
of Nodak News. Connie Knain reminded the members that only the officers
meet on Friday, June 6, 2008, and all other members are encouraged to
attend on Saturday, June 7, 2008.
NEW BUSINESS
Golden Grant Proposal:
Jolyn Krabbenhoft, reported that she, Linda Coons, Deb Boyer, and
Sue Zurn have written a Golden Grant request in the amount of seven
hundred dollars ($700) for a program entitled, “Spark A
Reader”. Grants are award in June at the Alpha Omicron
State Workshop.
Music Grant:
Verna LaBounty moved that Beta Chapter award the David Kegel
Memorial Music Grant to one (1) recipient this year and consider
awarding more/year in the future. Seconded by Michelle Severtson
and approved.
Election
of Officers: Jo Cavins moved to accept the slate of officers as
presented by Nominations Committee Chairperson, Verna LaBounty.
Seconded by Leslie Hagemeister and approved.
