Program:  Service Project at the YWCA Shelter
Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Saturday, November 7, 2009, at The YWCA Shelter in Fargo. Beta’s meeting was called to order by Ann Braaten, president with nine (9) members present.
Secretary’s Report:  Minutes of October 2, were accepted as published in the Beta Bits.
Treasurer’s Report:  Collette Folstad reported a balance of $2,772.54 with total assets of $32,933.69.
Correspondence: Letters of resignation were received from Linda Coons, Leslie Hagemeister, Sue Jordahl, Nancy Lilleberg, Dianne Ornberg, Sheri Schulz, and Elaine Strand. Janice Haggart and Patricia Vennette sent letters after the meeting.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Finance: Collette Folstad reported that the chapter accounts are now located at State Bank.  She also stated that the drop in membership may affect the scholarship amounts to be awarded.
Membership:  Jolyn Krabbenhoft informed us that 2011 will be Beta’s 70th birthday.  She suggested the membership set a goal for 70 members by that time.  Recruit-Recriuit-Recruit.  
OLD BUSINESS: Debbie Boyer asked members to stay after the meeting to have their picture taken with Flat Annie in front of the shelter.  Flat Annie will begin her journeys after Christmas.
NEW BUSINESS:  Collette Folstad moved that we accept with regret and appreciation the resignations of Linda Coons, Leslie Hagemeister, Sue Jordahl. Nancy Lilleberg, Dianne Ornberg, Sheri Schulz, and Elaine Strand. Bonnie Gates seconded the motion; motion carried.  Dararagh Kilhlea -Wicks was dropped from membership as there was no correspondence.
Announcements: A Beta Birthday Party will be celebrated at the Silver Moon in January.  Jolyn Krabbenhoft will make arrangements.
 
The membership committee will meet at 3:00 at Zandbroz prior to the February meeting.  The discussion will focus on ways to promote membership and possible program ideas.
Our next meeting will be February 20, 2010 at Zandbroz Variety.  A light dinner is optional.  The program will be A Celebration of Women and Their Music, Fargo Theatre, Tickets. $15.  Bring guests to the meeting and recommendation of New Members to the March Meeting.  
 
Applications for Lucile Cornetet Award for Professional Development are due Feb. 1, 2010.
Members are encouraged to apply for the Golden Gift and Golden Grant Scholarships.
 
Tau and Zeta will be invited to the May meeting. President Karen will make her chapter visit.
 
Following the meeting the members will do filing and hang coats as a service to the Y-Shelter.
