Meeting Minutes November 13, 2008
Program: PAY (Philanthropy and Youth) presented by Marty Hoffman, Director-Barry Foundation.
Beta
Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Thursday, November 13, 2008, the
Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Beta Chapter was
invited to attend by Epsilon Chapter of Moorhead. After a
delicious meal and a very informative presentation Beta’s meeting
was called to order by Ann Braaten, president with seventeen (17)
members present.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of October 4, 2008, were approved as published in the Beta Bits.
Treasurer’s Report: Collette Folstad reported a balance of $3,827.22 with total assets of $34,236.27.
Correspondence: There was no correspondence.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Membership and Courtesy: We were reminded to invite new members and bring them to the March meeting.
Scholarship:
President Ann Braaten reminded us that this year we will award
the Adeline Stevenson Nurse Scholarship at the June 2009 State
Convention in Mandan. She reminded us the applications are also
due February 1 for the Hazel B. Nielsen Scholarship.
Finance:
Collette Folstad presented the budget for the upcoming year.
The membership voted to accept the budget. The Finance Committee
recommended that we move the savings account funds to our checking
account thus creating one account. The recommendation passed.
Collette was given permission to move our accounts to State Bank.
Literacy:
“Spark a Reader”: Students from Maureen
Scott’s class will be providing the children at the YWCA shelter
a evening of stories and activities. The Beta Committee will plan
an event for January.
Program:
The program booklets were handed out in a new and improved larger form.
We were reminded that in February we will attend The Celebration
of Women and Music at the Fargo Theatre at 6:30. Prior to the
event we will meet at Zandbroz for a meeting and a meal. The cost
will be $8.50 and Zandbroz will need a count.
NEW BUSINESS: With regret the following resignations were accepted: Elaine Hatzenbuhler, Heidi Manning, Mary Pull, and Judy Gelinski
The following members were dropped for non-payment: Lynn Nichols, Lois Frybly, and Bonnie Daley.
Linda Fricker moved to accept the membership changes and Jolyn Krabbenhoft seconded the motion.
Linda Fricker made a motion to donate $25 to Expanding Your Horizons for the Junior High Club. Verna LaBounty seconded the motion and it was passed.
Announcements:
YWCA is in dire need of supplies for their residents
The February meeting
will be Saturday, Feb 21, 2009. 4:30 meeting and light dinner at
Zandbroz Variety, 420 Broadway, Fargo, 701-239-4719 and attendance at
6:30 p.m. A Celebration of Women and Their Music, Fargo Theatre,
314 Broadway, Fargo, 701-235-4152, Tickets
Bring Recommendations for Membership (Form 11) to our March 7 meeting.
