Beta Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International
Meeting Minutes November 3, 2007
 
 
Program:  Sister Andrea of the Presentation Prayer Center spoke on the topic, “Pilgrimages”.  Our sister members of the Moorhead Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma were our guests.
 
Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met Saturday, November 3, 2007, at Season’s at Rose Creek, 1500 Rose Creek Parkway East, Fargo, ND.  The meeting was called to order by Ginger Dietz, president, with 26 Beta members, 15 Epsilon members, and 1 guest present.
Secretary’s Report:  Minutes of the October 6, 2007, Meeting were approved as published in Beta Bits.
Treasurer’s Report:  Linda Fricker reported the balance on had was $3052.14 with assets of $30,215.11.
Correspondence:  Linda Fricker read letters from Karen Murie thanking Beta Chapter for the donation of twenty-five dollars ($25) to the 29th Annual Expanding Your Horizons Program, Judy Gelinske, who is in the seminary, bringing us up-to-date on what is happening in her life, and from Mary Beth Peterson a letter of resignation with regret as she is starting her Master’s Degree and teaching full time.
 
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Program of Work: Leslie Hagemeister reported that the Program Booklet is organized for next year.  Ann Braaten will mail them to the members.
Beta Bits:  Verna La Bounty reported that Beta Bits will be mailed to the three (3) members who do not get them off the website.  She also reported that the new issue of Nodak News is on the International Website.
 
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
Committees:  President, Ginger Dietz, reported that there would be committee member changes when all dues are received.
Fundraiser:  President, Ginger Dietz, has filled out all the necessary paper work for a fundraiser at Barnes & Noble tentatively set for Saturday, December 1, 2007. National Barnes & Noble has not approved our request at this time.
 
NEW BUSINESS:
Dreams Project: The YWCA Unique Boutique will be held December 7-8, 2007. President, Ginger Dietz encouraged members to bring new items for Christmas Gifts that woman and children who have lived at the YWCA Shelter for a year may pick out gifts for their families.  Delta Kappa Gamma members will wrap the items selected.
State Survey:  Connie Knain stated that Delta Kappa Gamma is trying to revise the state committee structure and asked that each chapter send in a consensus report to the State Committee.
Resignation:  Linda Fricker moved and Verna LaBounty seconded the motion to accept Mary Beth Peterson’s letter of resignation from Beta Chapter Membership with regret.  Approved.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Member Moving:  Verna LaBounty informed the membership that Alberta Dobry will be moving to Springfield, Ohio, November 16, 2007.  It was moved by Collette Folstad, seconded by Linda Fricker that Beta Chapter gives Alberta a personalized gift.  Approved.  Connie Knain and Verna LaBounty volunteered to pick out an appropriate gift.  It was agreed that the money should come out of the budget.
Japanese Doll:  Ann Braaten announced that on Saturday, November 10, 2007, at the E. Morrow Lebedeff Hall at NDSU there would be a reunion of four (4) sister Japanese Friendship Dolls after 80 years of separation via a “live” video broadcast.   The dolls are from are North Dakota (Miss Okayama-Emily Reynolds Collection), North Carolina, Wisconsin, and Ohio.  These dolls may become a part of the Smithsonian Collection.  Ann is writing a book, “Hi, I am Miss Okayama”.
Inventory: Secretary, Collette Folstad, stated that she had several older Beta Chapter Records.  Verna LaBounty volunteered to go through them and determine those that should be archived at NDSU.
Members Dropped: Members dropped from membership for non-payment of dues are Kim Belgarde, and Debra K. Peterson.
