Beta Chapter of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International
Meeting Minutes March 6, 2009
  
Program:  Finding Your Passion in Today’s Job Market.  The presenter was Sharon Miller of NDSU Research and Technology Park
 Beta’s meeting was called to order by Ann Braaten, president with fourteen (14?) members present.
Secretary’s Report:  Minutes of February 20, 2010, approved as read.
Treasurer’s Report:  Collette Folstad reported a balance of $1,902.46 with total assets of $32,318.03.  
Correspondence:  Beta received a request from Tri-College New Leadership Development requesting a donation.
 
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Membership and Courtesy:  We discussed ways to increase membership.
One topic was the goal to have 70 members by our 70th birthday next January.
Scholarship:  
Nomination Committee: Verna LaBounty reported that Jo Cavins is willing to serve as 2nd Vice-president and Linda Fricker will serve as 1st Vice-president.  They are still seeking a candidate for president and secretary.
Unfinished Business:
Deb Boyer reported that Flat Annie has also been sent to Clearwater Minnesota in time for their April conference.  
An invitation will be sent to Tau (Whapeton) and Zeta(Mayville) to attend our May meeting when State Pres. Karen Walz visits.
Beta is looking for a new editor for Beta Bits.  Verna LaBounty is willing to mentor the volunteer as she transitions into publishing the newsletter.
 
NEW BUSINESS:
The nomination committee of Jo Cavins-Ginger Dietz- and Verna LaBounty are seeking interested parties for the new slate of officers.
Verna LaBounty moved to donate $50 to the Tri-College New Leadership Development.  Ginger Dietz seconded it.  Robyne Williams amended the motion to donate $100.  Ginger Dietz seconded the motion.  The amended motion was passed.  The motion was then carried to donate $100.
Announcements:
April 10-The meeting begins at 9:00 at The Comstock House in Moorhead.   Remember to bring potential new members or recommendations as this meeting will serve as their orientation to the organization.
We will be creating “May Baskets” for the YWCA Shelter for the May meeting.  
June 11-12 Alpha Omicron State Workshop in Valley City

Editor Needed for Beta Bits
    Beta Bits needs a new editor/web page master beginning July 1. If you have an interest in writing/editing the .pdf version, creating and updating web pages, and taking photos of Beta events, this is the position for you. News is collected from the officers and committee members. Photos are taken at meetings and events or submitted by members who take photos. Each issue is published online and in .pdf format. Print copies are distributed to three members without e-mail and one copy is filed at the archives.Want to talk more about the newsletter?
