Professional Affairs Committee
Brief Description of Professional Affairs Committee Work In addition to the committee’s initial meeting, a mini planning retreat focused on setting goals, identifying tasks to accomplish the goals, and assigning members to complete the tasks was held on January 29, 2010 at Carol Maidon’s home. The enthusiastic group focused their attention on the development of several activities. The first goal set was the development of a future Professional Development Day in the spring of 2011. It will be, hopefully, be financially supported by a Cornetet Award. However, prior to creating this opportunity for our members, the committee strongly felt it was necessary to conduct an electronic survey of the members to determine their needs. An electronically formatted survey system could also be used by the Research Committee. The second goal was multifaceted and dealt with enhancing our members’ knowledge of legislative issues affecting women, children, and education. The committee wanted to accomplish this goal by increasing communication with our members, collaborating with other educational organization, and developing a Legislative Day in the spring of 2011 in order to advocate on issues of importance.
