Mission of Delta Kappa Gamma

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional   and personal growth of women  educators and excellence in education.

 

Purposes of the Society

  • To UNITE women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual fellowship.

  • To HONOR women who have given or who evidence a potential for distinctive service in any field of education.

  • To ADVANCE the professional interest and position of women in education.

  • To INITIATE, ENDORSE and SUPPORT desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interest of education and of women educators.

  • To ENDOW scholarship to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to non-women educators.

  • To STIMULATE the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate program of action.

  • To INFORM the members of current economic, social, political and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society.

 

Chapter Goals for 2010-2012

In an effort to unite the sisters of Alpha Lambda Chapter in a genuine spiritual fellowship we will:

  • Add a pictorial directory to our yearbook.

  • Have greeters at each meeting.

  • Ask a few volunteers at each meeting to present symbols and photos of their interests and hobbies.

  • Send notes and updates to members who unable to attend the meeting.

  • Provide more opportunities to visit and enjoy each other.

  • Recruit and invite more new members.

  • Have available current and previous scrapbooks at meetings for members to view.

To aid Alpha Lambda sisters and students in the community, we will continue to offer scholarships.

  • Cecil Kessler Recruitment Grant

  • Louise Bailey Scholarship

  • Alpha Lambda member scholarship for advanced work.

  • Alpha Lambda member mini scholarship for workshops and recertification courses

  • Alpha Lambda member mini grant for projects in the classroom or community

We will continue our efforts to promote literacy.

  • Provide books for children in the community, focusing this biennium on classroom libraries.

We will use our voices of influence to

  • keep each other informed on current education issues in our county and state.

  • To support desirable legislators who are proponents of education and support women educators.

We will fund our scholarships through several fund raisers.

  • Ingles Gift Card Fundraiser

  • Annual Christmas Auction

  • Ceremony of Remembrance

We will promote good communication among our sisters through:

  • Newsletters

  • Scrapbook

  • Web site
