Call to order: President Phyllis VanBuren called the meeting to order
Welcome to our guests : Marj Hawkins introduced her guest, Carol Hamilton, a retired teacher from the Early Childhood Program.
Collect: Janet Gray read a poem from the ??G Bulletin.

Business Meeting:
Agenda accepted
Secretary's report accepted with correction on the spelling of Kathy Schlueter's name
Treasurer's report accepted: balance was $ 2274.66; 50 active members
Correspondence: Thank you notes were read from Kathy Schlueter and a counselor from the Talahi Community School for our Christmas donations. We also had received a letter of appreciation from Anna Marie's House for our gift of food from our meetings.
Report of Executive Board: Members agreed that the Scholarship Fund is more important than dessert. We will consider ways to lower the cost of our dinners to continue to add to the Scholarship Fund after meeting our meeting costs.
Reports of Committees:
Legislative report - Marge Bates asked Carol Hamilton, co-chair of the Parent Legislative Action Team/Network, to address the funding issues created by unfunded mandates that take monies from the general fund. Additional information is available at www.isd742.org with a link from the Home Page. Jeanne Hoodecheck moved and it was second and passed that those who do not want their name shared with this group for electronic updates should send their name to President VanBuren.
Phyllis VanBuren informed members that Senate File 654 has been introduced at the legislature to include world languages and cultures as part of the core curriculum and invited members to read the bill and contact local legislators to support this initiative.
Barbara Bloomer suggested members follow Superintendent Vandal's plan for financing education.
Membership report - Deanna Lederer announced that International is challenging each chapter to initiate four new members each year this biennium.
Jeanne Hoodecheck worked with Jan Sorell to create an attractive poster to hang in local schools and/or to share with potential members. Jeanne will also send letters to former members to visit one of our meetings yet this year.
Professional Growth & Services: Volunteerism – Barbara Bloomer distributed a survey on members' current involvement in volunteer activities.
New Business :
The Tau State meeting was cancelled due to inclement weather. Phyllis VanBuren encouraged members to plan to attend the state conference in Owatonna on May 4-6 and the NW Regional Conference in Vancouver on July 18-21, 2007.
Announcements:
Paulette Hauge shared that one of her students was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and leukemia. The treatment and recovery process with be for 2 ½ years. She sold orange bracelets to help the family with the costs.
Marj Hawkins announced that books at Roosevelt School need volunteers to repair them.
Matt Gleasman, St. Cloud City Planning Director, shared information about the planning for St. Cloud in the upcoming years.

Secretary's report accepted after spelling error changed
Treasurer's report : The proposed budget was approved; we would like to again thank Gertie Geck for her contribution (from selling Doug Wood's books at the convention ) to our convention/conference fund.
Correspondence: report not available this month
Report of Executive Board: For our Christmas project the executive board will choose from a project you members may submit BY NOVEMBER 20, or the underwear-for -needy -children project.
Committee Reports:
Legislative Report - Marge Bates- thank you for voting; statewide 59% voted and in our area 53% voted.
Unfinished Business
Docents - Barb Bloomer started the discussion. Marge Moore moved and Carol Vick seconded that Eta Chapter of DKG disband the docent program on Sunday afternoons at the Stearns History Museum . It passed. Professional Growth and Services will look into coordinating interested volunteers at the museum.
Announcements:
Phyllis VanBuren received the Emma Birkmaier award from the MN Council on the Teaching of Languages and Cultures.
Former member Louise Johnson was treated for esophageal cancer at Mayo and is now back home. She sends greetings to those she knows.
Carol Vick was honored by REAM for all her work.
Sherri Kimball is now our communications link to Northstar News . You can send her a note and she will pass it on.
AAUW is sponsoring a gathering of women Tues. Nov. 28 from 4:30 to 7:00 pm at the Kelly Inn , poolside. It is to celebrate with the many groups of women in St. Cloud that make up our community's "Legacy of Leadership." This is to celebrate 125 years of women working together. By Nov. 24th you need to let Bonita Benschoter (251-8530 or 251-4977 or benschot@cloudnet.com know if you are coming.
Mary Dorfer will be in Equador for the next three months.

Business Meeting:
Secretary's report was accepted as submitted.
Treasurer's report was accepted as submitted. Our balance as of 9-30-06 is $4107.74.
Ruthie Lachelt and Carleen Nordstrom are not renewing membership; we accept with regret. This year we have 49 active members, 2 honorary members and 1 reserve member.
Correspondence: Audrey Novak, Donnalynn Erickson, Janet Gray and Jan Sorell had surgery this summer or fall; Sister Andre received a pacemaker; Gertie Geck's twin brother died; our sister Nan Figge died; Alice Simondett moved to Sterling Park .
Report of executive Board: sixteen people attended high tea at the
summer outing; four members attended the International Convention. Jan attended a UNICEF meeting; Phyllis attended the Educator's Award session featuring the book To Teach With Your Strengths that received that award. We collected $100.00 worth of children's underwear for the needy youth of southern California .
Bring school supplies for the children of Ecuador in November; Mary Dorfer will take them along when she goes there.
The Executive Board will decide if we want to give underwear to St. Cloud youth as a Christmas gift.
Unfinished Business: A discussion on docents will be held in November; Gertie's Gift will be designated to help members attend ?KG events.
New Business: Betty Cashman and Deanna Lederer will present a Ceremony of Remembrance for Nan Figge May 1, 2007
Announcements: Mary Snorek, Tau State President, will visit us May 1, 2007
