President Lisa Bouda called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. Twenty three members were in attendance.

 

The minutes of the May 11, 2005 and September 19, 2005 meetings were filed  with corrections and additions.

 

The Treasurer’s report was filed as presented.

 

The Correspondence Report: Lisa sent three letters accepting the resignation of three members.

 

President’s Report

 

President Lisa expressed concern over the loss of members. Members lost due to non-payment of dues are: Debbie Hubbell, Pamela Lemerand, Sharon Schmidt, and Sue Speirs. This decline is also noted at the State level.

 

President Lisa was unable to attend the State Executive Board Meeting in Frankenmuth. Renae Beyerlein and Elaine Christensen attended in her absence. Governor Granholm was nominated as an honorary member of DKG. New committee handouts were distributed, updating membership changes.

 

State Meeting will be on Mackinac Island May 5-7, 2006 ($170/p per night)

 

The International Meeting will be held in San Diego July 18-21, 2006. Travel Scholarships are available.

 

Our Alpha Mu Chapter will celebrate our 50th anniversary at the Riverlake Luncheon, April 1, 2006 at the St. Clair Inn. State forms were distributed to committee chairs. They are due Feb.1.

 

Standing Committee Reports and Action As Required

 

Legislation: Elaine Christensen will travel to Washington for the U.S. Forum and will lobby Michigan lawmakers with our concerns for education in Michigan.

 

Scholarship/grants- Jackie Rentenbach reports we earned over $1000 at our Fall Fashion Show for our Scholarship Fund.

 

 

Unfinished Business

Adopt-a-Teacher: Jane Lucido reports that the committee is looking at ways to fund this project.

 

The Nominating Committee is working on a slate for new officers. Marianne Vukas. Chairperson, will present the slate at our Focus Meeting # 3.

 

New Business

 

Scholarships: The membership voted to present two $500 scholarships, one each to a North and South female student interested in pursuing a college degree in Education.

 

Spa Session- at Jill Chochol Feb. 13- cost to be determined. Guests are welcome.

 

Focus Meeting # 3   (March date TBA) at Grosse Pointe South. We will nominate new members and Board Positions, and construct favors for our anniversary for Riverlake.

 

Focus Meeting # 4 May 17 at Jan Kay’s home

 

Adjournment  President Lisa adjourned the meeting at 4:55 p.m.
