The Delta Kappa Gamma Society For Key Women Educators |

Amanda Katherine Young is one of our 2009 initiates. She is completing her fifth year of teaching kindergarten in the Fairview Independent Schools.
When asked how she chose teaching she replied, "I had no idea what I wanted to do when I went to college. I changed my major about 5 times before deciding to try education. I tried it and loved it. When I started my career as a teacher, I found it to be stressful and overwhelming at times, but I also found that the rewards outweighed the struggles. Not only do I get to help children everyday, but they help me as well. It doesn't matter what kind of day I am having, they make me laugh, which I think will always keep me young at heart."
She has been
married to her husband, Casey for almost 3 years. They have a beautiful
golden retriever mix, Lucy Lou.
Amanda has
a
Bachelor of Arts Degree from Marshall University in Elementary
Education (P-6) with a specialization in Preschool and Kindergarten, received in
May 2004. She also has a Master of Arts Degree from Morehead State
University in Education with a Reading and Writing Specialist Endorsement (all
grades), received in July 2008. She is currently pursuing a Rank I at
Marshall University in Library and Media.
Welcome, Amanda, we look forward to getting to know you
better. Our chapter will benefit from your enthusiasm and lovely smile!
