Innovation in the Classroom Award

Guidelines

This award is to encourage creative, new instructional strategies or projects in the classroom.

Eligibility

  1. The recipient must have been an active member of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for at least three (3) years before applying.
  2. If a previous recipient of the award, the member must wait five (5) years before applying again.
  3. If the member received an International stipend for her innovative project, that project would not be eligible for the Phi State Innovation in the Classroom Award.
  4. The applicant has met the February 1 (of any year) deadline for application for the Innovation in the Classroom Award.

Requirements

  1. Submit a completed application to the Phi State Scholarship Committee Chair by February 1 of the year the award is given.
  2. Submit a letter of recommendation from the chapter president.
  3. Upon completion of the project write a brief (250 word) summary of the project experience to the Phi State Scholarship Committee Chair. (The summary may be published in the SUNFLOWER.)

Criteria for Selection

  1. Regular attendance at chapter meetings and participation in chapter activities are qualifications for receiving the award.
  2. A State member would be exempt from the chapter qualification for two (2) years after her chapter dissolved.

Number and Payment of Awards

  1. Contingent on money available from the scholarships award fund there will be a maximum of three (3) awards available each of $300 during any one (1) year. The award will be recognized and presented during the Birthday Luncheon of the Phi State Convention.
