Summer 2008

Hello, and thank you for visiting Alpha Kappa State's website.

I have always felt honored being a member of this professional society and hope that you can take a few minutes to find out more about us. First and foremost, our common focus of achieving excellence in education binds us together. We in Alpha Kappa State share and support each other's dreams, experiences and objectives with fun and friendship. Here you can participate in worldwide projects benefiting schools and children while interacting with educators from around the world. These outreach projects can be within your own communities or throughout the world.

We are currently involved with several projects: The Afghan Teacher Training Program, in conjunction with the United Nations; The Curriculum of Hope for a Peaceful World, a program promoting peace by helping teachers make their classrooms and our planet a safer place to live and learn; Books to Dreams, giving free books to children throughout the state; and Books for Babies, giving new mothers a board book when they leave the hospital after giving birth. These projects and many more were developed or pursued by Connecticut members and supported by our International organization.

We welcome members' explorations of their personal philosophies and goals and encourage their fruition through mutual exchanges, respect, recognition, grants, stipends and shared desire. Please come and join us at a chapter meeting, state conference or state convention to experience what a great opportunity this can be for you to be informed, enlightened, entertained, and renewed!!!
